Public words, private you.

World Wall is built to need as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no email sign-up and no third-party advertising trackers.

What's public

When you leave a mark, these are published on the wall and on your mark's page, and can be seen and shared by anyone:

• the name you entered and your message or signature;
• the country you picked, and the city if you added one;
• your mark's number and the time you left it;
• how many times it has been viewed and loved.

Only write what you're happy for the whole internet to see. A first name is enough.

What we store privately

• A daily-rotating fingerprint of your IP address (a keyed hash that changes every day). We use it to limit spam and to clean up abuse. Your IP address itself is never stored.
• A hashed owner key for your mark. The key itself stays in your browser's local storage and is what lets you delete your mark.
• Reports you submit, with the reason you chose.

If you reserve a plaque

• Public: the name, tagline, image, website link and colour you choose for the plaque. Images are re-encoded when uploaded, which removes hidden metadata such as camera location.
• Private: the contact email you give us, the email address of your PayPal account, the PayPal transaction ID, the amount and dates. We use these to review your plaque, send you updates, handle refunds and keep accounting records.
• Payments are processed by PayPal. We never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal's own privacy statement applies to the payment itself.

Cookies and local storage

• One anonymous cookie (ww_vid) holding a random ID, so a heart counts once per browser and we can show how many people are here right now. It contains nothing about you and is never shared.
• Local storage in your browser remembers the marks you left (with their owner keys) and the marks you loved. It never leaves your device.

Analytics

We count simple events — a page was viewed, a mark was started or shared — to understand what works. These events record the page, the event name and, where our hosting provider supplies it, the visitor's country. They contain no names, IP addresses or identifiers.

Location

We suggest a country from your browser's language or our hosting provider's country header. We never ask for your device's location and never store an address.

Deleting your mark

Open your mark's page in the browser you left it from and choose Delete my mark. Your words, signature and city are erased immediately; the number stays reserved so nobody else can take it. If you no longer have that browser, email hello@the-world-wall.com with the mark number.
